So, as this New Year starts we decided as a family to try some new things. One thing we decided to do was to focus our home activities a little bit more. So to start simple we decided we would do “Letters of the Month” at home to reinforce the things our little one has been learning at daycare and to help her learn the alphabet. So if interested follow along with us this year as we do our year of the alphabet. We decided to start with A and B because why not start at the beginning? The first activity we did was to make A and B art to hang on the refrigerator so we could review the letters whenever we were in the kitchen.
Trying to keep things simple I wrote out both an A and a B and let her decorate them with her Do-A-Dot markers. If your not familiar you can check them out here:https://www.amazon.com/Art-Markers-Rainbow-Washable-Original/dp/B00004W3Y4
They look like this and can be used to color if your child slides them or used to make circles if they just push down on them. They have been a hit in our house for about the last year. ThriftyFloridaMom tip I have found them on clearance at TJ Maxx and Homegoods for $6 to $8 dollars less than Amazon.
So after I set everything up I instructed her to “dot the A” and let her go to town.
After finishing the B I had her go through her letters magnets and find the corresponding magnets to hang her letters on the refrigerator. As we had all the items (paper, markers, alphabet magnets) already at home this was a free to me project.
